Prevent introductions, act earlier

Ports, travel and trade can also spread invasive alien species. ALIEM VIGIL builds on ALIEM and ALIEM APOSTROPHE to strengthen vigilance in transit areas. It combines cross-border monitoring, awareness raising and trials of control methods, on land and at sea.

From networks to field tools

The first steering committee, on 8 July 2024, established governance and financial management rules. Travellers, scientists and professionals exposed to introduction risks are priority audiences. This shared organisation helps partners connect local actions with the consortium’s objectives.

Shared technical and financial monitoring

The committee on 24 March 2025 reviewed the detection network, digital tools, learning materials and trap trials. It also adjusted the schedule and approved a reimbursement request. The project demonstrates why scientific activities, stakeholder involvement and administrative management need to move forward together.
