A shared ambition for Corsica and Sardinia
UNIT-MAB is preparing a transboundary biosphere reserve from the Gulf of Asinara to the Strait of Bonifacio. Led by OEC, it combines ecosystem conservation and local development under UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere approach. Designation is an objective of the project.
Cooperation officially launched in Bonifacio
On 29 September 2025, Corsican, Sardinian and Tuscan partners met in Bonifacio. Institutional presentations, technical exchanges and a visit to the nature reserve connected the shared initiative with the realities of the region. This milestone builds on the cooperation agreement signed in 2023.
Coordinating science, partners and deadlines
The June and November 2025 committees organised governance, scheduling and financial monitoring. Pascal Quilici worked alongside Jean-Michel Culioli on technical, administrative and financial assistance for OEC. Monitoring also covers ecosystem services and harmonising partner practices, in connection with the twin project UNIT-GEOPARKS.
